This was my first trip to the Dominican Republic and I can confidently say it changed me in many ways for the better. The people I got to share this trip with are not only my team mates but my family and they made this trip that much more special. Before the trip I had doubts if I would like it or not, but after the first day here I realized how much fun and educational this trip would be. We visited a orphanage, our translator Kike’s village, a school, and a church. Out of all the places we visited as a team the one place that stood out to me was the village. Being able to help and pray for the people of the village made me extremely happy and helped me with my own personal struggles. Being able to help family with food helped me realize what life is really about. It’s not about living the dream, it’s not about a million dollars, it’s what you do with your time on this earth whether you donate to the less fortunate or spread the word of God. The best lesson I learned this week in the Dominican Republic is that we are here to help one another not tear one down.
