Tuesday morning, college coaches from around the Southeast will converge on Gardner-Webb University to watch the Kingsmen take part in their fall College Day.
The players will be put through a pro-style workout, which is designed to test their attributes on the diamond. Players will be put through drills involving running, defense, hitting and pitching to showcase a variety of abilities.
Coach Hudak admitted that because it’s the first time the KBA is doing this, there is uncertainty over the turnout. However, he’s excited for what is to come.
“I don’t know whether we’ll get five coaches [at Gardner-Webb] or fifty,” Coach Hudak remarked. “This is something we did every year at Winthrop and Mississippi State, and it’s something we’ll continue to do here. We want to get our guys on the radar of college coaches. That’s one of the big reasons we are doing this.”
College Day will provide the Kingsmen a chance to show off what they have on Tuesday. Then, games start this weekend as the Kingsmen host Legacy Baseball on Sunday at GW.
