I have had such a great time down here in the Dominican Republic. It’s my first time out of the country, and I can say that this experience will definitely make you feel more grateful for what you’re blessed with at home. The smallest things like having socks to wear, air conditioning, even waking up in the morning and knowing you have someone who cares about you, you have to appreciate it. Appreciate the small things, find a silver lining, it’s easier on your spirit than always wanting MORE. Seeing how the girls were so full of life regardless of all of the adversity faced in their lives really sticks with me.
The overall experience was amazing, everyone was so nice and it felt like there was no language barrier at all. Kickball was electric, seeing PJ trip and dolphin dive into a bush, and even seeing Deacon kick the ball onto the top of the building was great. The girls didn’t get upset at all, just went to get it and continued on, because they were having fun and ENJOYING THE MOMENT.
This has been a great experience so far and that was probably the best day of my life. I am so grateful to have been a part of this trip and to be doing it with this group of guys.
