Series Recap: Prospect Team Wins Three in a Row Again, Rays Collegiate Swept Aside

March 10, 2026

GASTONIA, N.C. — 8-0. The KBA prospect team stands alone on top of the ABA standings after another dominant three game sweep at home.

The Kingsmen defeated the Blue Claws of Rays Collegiate by scores of 12-2, 2-0, and 12-1 en route to their second home sweep in a row.

In game one on Monday, Kingsmen pitchers Noah Entrekin and Brandon Falk combined to keep the Blue Claws contained, while the bats came alive. Six of the ten Kingsmen hitters in the lineup had multi-hit days at the plate in the opening game of the series.

Ashton Bowes finished things off in the fifth inning with a single to cap off the mercy rule win.

In game two Tuesday, the defense shined. Both teams put on a show, with only five hits in the ballgame between the two sides.

In fact, the KBA only surrendered one hit in its shutout victory. Kaysen Young went three hitless innings for the win, while Tristan Harless earned the four-inning save without allowing a walk.

The only two runs came when Caiden McNeil hit a sacrifice fly in the third, and one inning later when the Kingsmen executed a first-third play to perfection with runners on the corners.

Finally, game three saw the offense roar once more. Seven Kingsmen hitters logged hits, and they scored in every inning except the second on the way to another mercy rule.

Christian Burney launched his third home run of the spring to cap off the series, a grand slam in the fifth to put the Kingsmen over the run rule.

On the mound, Micah Irving pitched another lead-shortened complete game, tossing all five innings. He gave up just one run on two hits, while striking out four.

The Kingsmen earn a nice break, not playing again for almost a week. But when they do, it’s a big series.

They travel to Virginia to take on second-place DSC for a three-game series starting Monday.

Meanwhile, the Kingsmen varsity team will be back at it Friday, battling P27 on the road in a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for noon.
