EMERSON, Ga. — Day one has concluded at LakePoint with mixed results for the Kingsmen. The varsity team earned a victory, defeating the third-seeded P27 Blacksmiths. Meanwhile, the prospect suffered an early setback, upset by Central Pointe 9-5.
The varsity team leaned on an excellent start from Nehemiah Barnes, who threw over 100 pitches in a complete game. The offense supplied two big innings, and Barnes finished the job in the seventh to cap off a seven to two win.
With the win, the varsity team earns the right to take on the top seed in the ABA Varsity Conference, Clubhouse Performance Academy. It will be the first meeting between the Kingsmen and the Commanders; the game starts at 12:15.
In the prospect division, the Kingsmen loss means that Coach Hudak’s squad drops into the losers bracket, where they will have to battle in order to remain in title contention. First up is PDG, who the Kingsmen defeated in all three of their regular season meetings. That game kicks off at 9:30. With a win, they’ll play once more Wednesday, taking on P27 in an elimination game at 12:15. A loss in either game eliminates them.
Coverage of all games will be available on the Kingsmen Baseball YouTube channel, with Griffin Leonard calling the 9:30 prospect game as well as a game at 12:15. We plan to have a stream of each game going forward, regardless of potential schedule conflicts. Stay updated on the KBA website and social media channels for all updates.
