BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — The Kingsmen’s varsity team scored in every inning of Friday’s win, comfortably beating Grace Academy 12-2.
After giving up a run in the top of the first, the Kingsmen scored six runs on four hits to take a commanding lead in the home half of the first inning. It was the second time the Kingsmen scored six runs in the first inning of a game this week, after doing the same Wednesday in Myrtle Beach.
In the second, the Kingsmen added three more, courtesy of a Christian Burney RBI single before Harris Clark hit his first Kingsmen home run, sending a two-run shot over the left field fence.
It was truly a hit parade for the Kingsmen, with Burney, Dino Cattani, Matthew De La Cruz, and Eli Thomas all tagging in for multiple hits in the game.
Couple that offensive performance with solid pitching outings for Max Raley, Nemo Barnes, and Angel Rary, and you get an impressive victory that sent the spectators home in under two hours.
The Friday win wrapped up an exciting week for the Kingsmen, one that saw the Black and Gold win all five of their games.
It started Monday when the Kingsmen defeated the Lander JV Bearcats, winning in Greenwood 6-2, with some Kingsmen collegiate alumni in attendance.
Then, the team was firing on all cylinders in Myrtle Beach, sweeping the Blue Claws of Rays Collegiate. In the three games, the Kingsmen scored 47 runs, winning all three games by way of the run rule.
With the results, the Kingsmen prospect team sits tied at the top of the ABA leaderboard, with just the Round Robin to wrap up their regular season schedule.
Meanwhile, the varsity team has three conference games coming against ECA to be played in Goldsboro next week, before they also take part in the Round Robin. Both teams will be jostling for seeding with the ABA Championships at LakePoint less than a month away.
